letting it take shape

This time, I came to the flowers with a little bit more intention.

I wanted to work with flowers I hadn’t really used before, which meant a lot of this arrangement was experimentation for me—touching, trimming, moving, and seeing what happened.

I also decided to play with the color wheel.

I wanted to see what would happen when I brought warm oranges and yellows together with deeper purples.

I didn’t know exactly what the finished arrangement would look like. I just knew I wanted to follow the colors and textures and see where they took me.

I tried to make everything fit where I thought it belonged, but some stems had other ideas.

They leaned in directions I hadn’t planned for. Some flowers sat lower than I expected, while others seemed determined to reach a little farther. I kept adjusting, stepping back, moving something, stepping back again.

And finally, I stopped trying to make it “perfect.”

I let some flowers lean.

I let some negative space remain.

Maybe that’s what I’m starting to understand: arranging flowers isn’t only about knowing where everything should go. Sometimes it’s about experimenting enough to discover what you don’t know yet.

I’m learning the flowers.

I’m learning color.

I’m learning my own eye.

But this time, I felt a little less afraid of getting it wrong.

Still becoming. Still paying attention.
